about

“Guiding Light” is the third Pymlico album and the last to be released as Arild Brøters solo project before Pymlico was established as a real band. Released on Spider House Records, it follows its predecessors “Inspirations” (2011) and “Directions” (2012).

This album consists of 50 minutes of instrumental, progressive and melodic music, devided into seven tracks. The music is inspired by everything from arabic tones, scandinavian jazz and psychedelic metal to modern soundtracks, world music and prog rock.

Contributions were made by fourteen musicians altogether. Though most of them are fellow Norwegians, the album also features the American percussionist Larry Salzman, the fourteen-string guitar wizard Felix Martin from Venezuela, and the Mozambican saxophone player Ivan Mazuze.

Pymlico Oslo, Norway

Pymlico is an instrumental band from Oslo, Norway, led by composer and drummer Arild Brøter. The band mainly plays what has been described as a mix between progressive rock and fusion. However, their music also offers catchy hooks and singable melodies associated with pop music, alongside grandiose themes more in the vein of movie sound tracks. ... more
